The greater part of this book appeared in monthly articles under the name,"Oald Fasshent Crack".These articles in the magazine of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin,Wigton, covered a period of seven years and three months. For the first six, they were patiently duplicated by the then Vicar of Wigton,The Reverend R.G. Malden, M.A.(Cantab),and these cracks about the little town created so much interest that "The Throstle" spread his wings and flew all over Great Britain and Ireland. To the United States, Canada, Egypt, North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, and later to Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. This was during the dark days of the second Great European War.Many of the lads in H.M Forces were former Sunday School scholars of the author The research of more than seven years has been revised, and added to,so that now it appears in what the author hopes will prove a readable and informative book about "the Throstle Nest of all England." Probably, only produced - in this 1st edn issue - in a low print run of only 250 copies, printed and published by a local printer/publisher for a set number of subscribers. So thus,a very scarce and author-associated,sought after copy.
